Alternate Realities
Photo booth
Alternate Realities Photo Booth is an interactive experience that uses state-of-the-art AI technology to transport participants into their own personal alternate reality.
Participants portaits are taken by photographers and they are asked to select a theme for their alternate reality experience.
The team at Random Quark utilised the images from participants to refine a text-to-image deep learning model. These sophisticated deep learning models can convert textual descriptions into vivid images. By training this model on a vast array of images and corresponding textual descriptors, the AI learns to generate novel images based on new textual inputs.
Each participant then immediately receives a printed version of their chosen alternate reality photographs as well as a QR code to access their images online.
Random Quark's innovation was to refine the AI model using the images collected from participants, ensuring a highly personalised and unique output combined with an in-house developed pipeline that ensured very high fidelity of the final images and far superior to what tech such as Dreambooth had achieved up to that point.
This innovative project was commissioned by Jameson (Pernod-Ricard) for the "Where Ya At" music festival held in New Orleans in the summer 2023. Over 300 attendees had their images captured and received a unique printout of themselves in an alternate reality setting.
